The west valley has some amazing senior photography locations to choose from for your session. The choice of location in Phoenix for your photography session will greatly impact the final gallery you receive. And before you write off the desert as just being brown and dry (which, yes, it can be), you’ll be amazed at the beautiful glow you’ll find in photography around the Phoenix area.
Because our Sonoran Desert gets approximately 360 sunny days a year, you’ll benefit from many opportunities to achieve bright, natural, and timeless photographs. Let’s talk about some location opportunities specifically found in the West Valley of Phoenix, Arizona.
An obvious surrounding location is desert. Yet I believe your desert photographs don’t have to look dry! One thing to consider is the time of year you have your photographs taken. If you take them in winter, you’ll find more green color in the desert. If you take them in the spring, you’ll find lots of green color as well as lots of springtime wildflower colors popping up across our desert.
If you feel like you’d like to add even more color and elevate your photographs, consider adding flowers! I’ve written an entire post on the fun that a sweet bouquet can add to your session.
Another location choice is to consider one where you can have water in some way in your photographs. Lake Pleasant, in Peoria, AZ, is an incredible choice to capture the sweeping lake, mountains, and vast desert landscape in your photographs.
Also consider water structures that have been man-made, like waterfalls or ponds. They don’t have to be massive to add some reflection and shimmer into your photographs. These can be found throughout the West Valley. Keep your eyes open!
Finally, there’s the choice in what architecture you surround yourself with in your photographs. This could be the side of a building, beautiful fence lines, impressive archways, or historic buildings. A fantastic choice that packs so many options is Sahuaro Ranch, in Glendale, Arizona. A senior session there will provide you opportunities to have historic buildings, a stable, red-brick buildings and trellises, as well as a beautiful rose garden, vineyard rows, citrus trees, and palm trees. It really is an incredible location with so much variety to offer for your senior photography session.
Part of the joy of taking senior photographs is the ability you have to plan and choose details that suit your style. If you’re still thinking about locations, I’ve shared a few of my favorites here. From Lake Pleasant, to Sahuaro Ranch, to Verrado, the West Valley has some beautiful photography options if you are looking for places that are the the West Valley of Phoenix, Arizona.
