I’m sharing a few of my favorite people who I think provide the best photography education. And guess what? It’s valuable to both new and seasoned photographers. The one thing that I’ve devoted time to over the years (that has had the biggest impact on my photography) is education. Hands down, it’s been the best investment. Today I’m sharing with you two of my favorite photography educators. I’ll tell you about them and why I LOVE them!
Teachers at heart, Amy & Jordan are incredible photography educators. They offer information-packed blog posts and a some free courses. They are incredibly generous. My favorite resource (that has also been the best photography-education investment I’ve made) has been their Shooting and Editing Course. It’s thorough in covering everything to help you operate confidently in manual mode. It’s practical as they show you real-life, on-location videos. You’ll see them actually applying the lessons!
After you’ve learned to use that camera, Amy walks you through how to use Lightroom for editing. She shares all about her process. She even details organization and delivery of galleries! Such a comprehensive experience that will leave you feeling SO prepared to use that camera and edit your photographs from start to finish.
Sweet as can be, Katelyn James is one photography educator you should be learning from! One of the gold mines Katelyn James shares on is her YouTube Channel. When I’m contemplating which lens to purchase or which aperture to use for a particular setting, her technical videos are so helpful. When I want to watch a photographer talk me through the process of creating composition or making lighting decisions, I’ll watch her walking through those decisions on location at a wedding.
Part of the benefit of listening to Katelyn is her honesty as she’s been faced with different situations and the creativity she uses to make the most of every one!
Of all I’ve learned from my favorite educators, the one thing that they both have in common is serving the client. They talk extensively about people-centered photography, and it’s something I’ve made a priority to transfer into my sessions. OF COURSE I want your photographs to be beautiful, timeless, and natural. I want to nail the focus, I want the camera settings to be spot-on, and I want the composition to be beautiful. But I also want you to know that I care deeply about YOU!
If you are looking for a session with a steady guide, I’d love to chat with you!
Gratefully,
